The Gestalt Therapy Sydney Training Programme
Gestalt Therapy Sydney offers a comprehensive training programme in the Gestalt approach over a minimum of four years. Within this programme there is a planned exit point after first year.
Gestalt Therapy Sydney (GTS) provides high quality training in contemporary Gestalt therapy. Practitioners working in the human services (counsellors, psychotherapists, nurses, health workers, welfare workers, teachers, mediators, human resource managers, etc) and people with no prior experience in the field are invited to apply. GTS training assists in both commencing and deepening the professional practice of counselling and psychotherapy.
GTB is registered as a non-self accrediting higher education provider with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET), and is in an agent/principal agreement with of Gestalt Therapy Sydney. As such, GTS delivers the courses owned and developed by Gestalt Therapy Brisbane Pty Ltd (GTB). Successful students are eligible for the following awards:
- Graduate Certificate in Gestalt Therapy: (Grad Cert Gest.Therapy): 1 year part time enrolment
- Master of Gestalt Therapy: (MGest. Therapy): an additional 3 years part time enrolment and
- Graduate Award of Clinical Gestalt Therapy.
- Master Graduate entry program
The four year programme is also accredited by the professional associations of GANZ, (Gestalt Australia and New Zealand) and PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia). Successful students are provided with an Academic Record that enables them to apply for GANZ membership and subsequently registration on the PACFA register.
The four year programme aims to develop professional Gestalt practitioners, and skilled human service workers. During training GTS students will actively engage in exploring Gestalt theoretical concepts and experiential methods within a supportive group learning environment.
Gestalt Training Format
Training is undertaken in a group setting. Group training sessions consist of theoretical, methodological presentations, experiential learning activities and skills development linked to supervision. The particular format of tutorials, workshops and residentials will be outlined to each training year at the commencement of each term or activity.
